Bio-engineered Shoreline Habitat

Lake Rip Rap, Inc. has developed bio-engineered shoreline designs for relatively high wave energy levels where the shoreline has retreated to the point of exposing highly compacted nutrient poor subsoil with continuing erosion.  The littoral substrate under these conditions, is not suitable for plant growth.  The LR.R.I. designs attempt to replicate conditions found along the shorelines of stable glacial lakes by the construction of a substrate layer of blended materials conducive to plant growth placed on a slope gradient resistant to erosion.  Plants can be physically introduced or naturally propagated if appropriate plants exist in the area.
